Everything in Jaisalmer runs on the light.
So we plan your car, your camp and your day backwards from it — and you end up standing on the dune when it turns, instead of watching it through a windscreen.

The places worth your hours
Nine or ten sights get listed everywhere. These are the ones that reward turning up at the right time of day — which is what we actually plan around.

Jaisalmer Fort
Built in 1156 and still lived in — around three thousand people have homes inside the walls. Go early, before the lanes fill and the light goes flat.
Best early morning

Sam Sand Dunes
The dune field everyone means when they say the Thar. Camel and jeep rides through the afternoon, then the camps light up after dark.
Best 3 pm onwards

Patwon Ki Haveli
Five havelis built from 1805 by a family of brocade traders. The stone screens on the upper floors are the finest carving in the city.
Best morning

Gadisar Lake
A rainwater reservoir from 1367, ringed by shrines and ghats. In winter the migratory birds arrive and it becomes the quietest hour of your day.
Best sunrise or sunset

Kuldhara
A Paliwal Brahmin village left empty in the early 1800s and never resettled. The street grid is still readable, which is the eerie part.
Best late afternoon

Bada Bagh
The royal cenotaphs of the Bhatti rulers, on a bare ridge with wind turbines behind them. It faces west, so it is a sunset stop and nothing else.
Best sunset

Out at three. Sunset on the dune. Dinner under canvas.
Sam Sand Dunes is forty-two kilometres west. We leave with enough margin for the camel ride to finish before the light goes, then the folk musicians start, dinner comes off the fire, and the sky does the rest.
- 15:00Hotel pickup
- 16:15Camel safari over the dunes
- 18:05Sunset from the high dune
- 19:30Folk music, dance and dinner
- 22:30Stargazing, then your tent
Local, in the way that actually matters

- We live here
- The office is in Jaisalmer, not in another city with a call routing app. When you ask whether Bada Bagh is worth it on a Tuesday, you get an answer from someone who drove past it that morning.
- Our own drivers and cars
- Same driver through your trip, vehicles we maintain ourselves, and no last-minute substitution with something smaller than you booked.
- Timing over sightseeing lists
- Anyone can list nine monuments. Knowing that Gadisar wants sunrise, the fort wants early morning and Bada Bagh only works at sunset is the part that makes the day good.
- A price that stays a price
- We quote what the trip actually costs, including tolls and driver allowance where they apply, and we tell you what is on actuals before you agree.
- Built for family trips
- Grandparents, toddlers and everyone in between. Child seats on request, larger vehicles that keep the whole family in one car, shorter camel rides, quieter camps, and days paced for the slowest walker in the group rather than the fastest.
Our reviews live on Google
We would rather send you somewhere you can check than print quotes on our own website, where anyone can type anything. Read what people actually said, and who said it.
Every fare, camp and itinerary on this site is one we would put our own family in. That is easier to check on a listing we do not control.
